May 2011
Back in May 2011 we began an appeal for funds to save a church building in South Hatfield, known locally as ‘The Wades.’ This was originally South Hatfield Evangelical Church, the home of a Brethren congregation. Years later, it became the home of City Church, an Elim congregation. On the many occasions we used the building for baptisms, funerals, a wedding and various special occasions, it was always a blessing.

Considerable pledges were made from individuals and churches towards the financial goal, but in due time it became clear that the trustees were unwilling to agree that the building should remain as (r)a church or sold as one. Eventually the Council was persuaded to lift the original restrictive covenant on the land.

This appeal was concluded in 2013 and where gifts were received, they were returned for more pressing needs, or where agreed, kept towards a future building fund. All pledges were released.

Sadly, the Wades was demolished in 2014 and South Hatfield lost one of it’s few original churches and a useful community building.
Alternatively, if you would like to make a direct bank payment, then please contact us and we will provide the details.

Meanwhile, thank you for being willing to take a part in the Lord’s work in Hatfield, and pray with us that the Lord will bless the ministry

We do not have an appeal for funds for a building at this time, but if you would still like to donate to the general gospel work of EBC, then that would be a blessing.
